The Legacy of the Naval College in the Face of a New Generation's Challenges

Written as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the Naval College, this article examines continuity and change in the profile of candidates and students across seven decades, contrasting the classes of 1951 and 2026. It aims to offer an overview of the history and legacy of the Yellow Ship, provide insight into the routines of its earliest students in comparison to present-day dynamics, and reflect on the challenges confronting a hyper-connected generation. To this end, the paper draws on scientific literature regarding generational trends, habits, and technological impacts. Furthermore, it employs a historical and sociological analysis based on student publication archives and other primary sources. Ultimately, the study underscores the enduring importance of the Naval College in shaping future Brazilian Navy officers on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee.
