The importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between health professionals, schools, and social services in supporting victims of childhood violence

Abstract

The care for children and adolescents in situations of vulnerability requires understanding violence as one of the most brutal expressions of the social question, rooted in historical inequalities and the structural crisis that weakens the protection network. This scenario demands a perspective that goes beyond surface-level clinical symptoms to identify marks of physical and psychological trauma often normalized by a punitive and patriarchal disciplinary culture. Given this problematic, the objective of the present research is to analyze the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between health professional schools and social work in supporting victims of childhood violence, observing how this union of knowledge reflects on the effectiveness of care and the comprehensive protection of the child. The methodology consisted of a qualitative and narrative bibliographic review, with a descriptive character, based on databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar, using a timeframe from 2022 to 2026. The results indicate that the integration between school health and social work is vital to overcoming the fragmentation of care, allowing the school to act as a sentinel in identifying behavioral changes and physical signs. The collaboration of doctors, nurses, dentists, and psychologists, allied with the work of social workers, strengthens the protection network and enables the application of the Protected Listening Law, mitigating institutional revictimization. It is concluded that child protection depends on breaking bureaucratic barriers and building intersectoral communicative flows that prioritize human dignity. Only through this symbiosis of knowledge is it possible to build a care network genuinely committed to interrupting cycles of abuse.
