Abstract

Palliative Care is an approach to improving the quality of life of patients and their families facing life-threatening illnesses through the relief of suffering, treatment of pain and other biopsychosocial and spiritual symptoms. The objective of this study was to develop the nursing process for patients in palliative care through the formulation of a care plan for assistance with the implementation of a health intervention. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the experience report type, carried out during the Palliative Care discipline, in a private hospital located in a capital city in northeastern Brazil, from November to December 2024. In order to consolidate the Nursing Process in the provision of care, the information collected was interpreted and allowed for the identification of Nursing Diagnoses, based on NANDA-I, and the formulation of interventions and expected results for the composition of the care plan and elaboration of the health intervention to be carried out, which was the preparation of an “Emotional Record” with the participation of the family, highlighting the subjectivity and their life history, in addition to benefiting the emotional, psychological and cognitive aspects of the patient. Therefore, when palliative care is applied to a patient with a life-threatening illness, the patient and their caregivers/family members are guaranteed comprehensive and unique care and the improvement of the quality of care, allowing greater attention and resolution to health needs.
