Jejum intermitente: efeitos no metabolismo e na saúde global

O jejum intermitente (JI) é uma abordagem nutricional caracterizada pela alternância entre períodos de alimentação e jejum, que tem ganhado crescente interesse devido aos seus potenciais benefícios metabólicos e para a saúde global. Esta revisão de literatura teve como objetivo analisar os efeitos do JI no metabolismo, na prevenção de doenças crônicas e na qualidade de vida. Os principais achados evidenciaram que o JI promove redução do peso corporal, melhora da sensibilidade à insulina, redução de marcadores inflamatórios e proteção cardiovascular. Além disso, o JI demonstrou potencial neuroprotetor e contribuiu para a melhora da qualidade do sono e do humor. Os mecanismos subjacentes incluem a ativação da autofagia, a modulação da via AMPK e a produção de corpos cetônicos. Conclui-se que o JI é uma estratégia nutricional promissora, mas que sua implementação deve ser individualizada e acompanhada por profissionais de saúde.
