Nursing Process in a patient with Crohn's Disease

Abstract

Introduction: Crohn's disease (CD) is a subacute and chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) of the gastrointestinal tract wall, which commonly affects the lower part of the small intestine (ileum) and large intestine (colon). In this sense, the nurse exercises his role as caregiver in Crohn's Disease, through the Systematization of Nursing Care. Methodology: This is a descriptive study, an experience report, carried out in the medical clinic of a public reference hospital in Piauí. Data collection was based on medical record review, anamnesis and complete physical examination. Results and Discussion: Female patient, 17 years old, with Crohn's disease, presented nutritional and gastrointestinal imbalances, risk of bleeding, acute pain, impaired urinary elimination, as well as impaired verbal communication, impaired social comfort and poor knowledge, among others. The nursing evolution stage provided data for analyzing the patient's responses to interventions. Conclusion: the importance of the nursing team in the systematic care of patients with Crohn's Disease is evident, emphasizing the need for the team to be attentive to the clinical specificities of the disease.
