This essay attempts to clarify, in general terms, the concept of “beginning” in Hegel. To this end, we use fragments from the 1827 Lectures in which Hegel states that “nothing in the beginning can be affirmed or realized beforehand”. Secondly, we attempt to explain the content of the beginning of to think in God, which is not possible without representative and/or intellective abstraction. And, thirdly, we will address Hegel's assertion that "the concept of the germ is its beginning." Finally, we conclude, still very superficially, that for Hegel, God would be “the Beginning”.
