Abstract

This essay aims to outline and present in more detail Edmund Husserl's phenomenology of fantasy. Initially, we discuss the theory of the phantom in Bühler (1967) and Husserl (2005). Secondly, we address the concepts of "representation" and "fantasy." Thirdly, we discuss the "image of the object." And finally, fourthly, we present Husserl's (2005) perspective on "the aura of the fantasized object." In short, we conclude by stating that Husserl's theory of fantasy is one of several ways of positioning the study of fantasy as one of the most important foundations of science in general.
