Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as broken heart syndrome, is a temporary cardiac condition often triggered by intense emotional or physical stress. This syndrome is characterized by transient ventricular dysfunction with a specific pattern of alteration in ventriculography and magnetic resonance imaging. Diagnosis is generally challenging, as the condition can be confused with acute myocardial infarction. Although most patients recover full cardiac function, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy can lead to complications and recurrences. Proper management requires early recognition and targeted treatment. A detailed understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic approaches is essential for improving clinical outcomes and developing effective strategies for prevention and treatment.
