The importance of the multidisciplinary team in the care of burn patients

The treatment of burn patients is a complex process that requires immediate and ongoing medical attention. Burns affect not only the skin but also other tissues and organs, with significant physical and emotional impacts, which requires the involvement of a multidisciplinary team. The goal of this study is to analyze the role of the multidisciplinary team in the care of burn patients, highlighting the challenges they face in treatment and rehabilitation. The research was conducted through a qualitative literature review, covering articles from 2021 to 2025, with a focus on the collaboration between doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and social workers. The multidisciplinary approach is essential for the success of treatment, promoting not only physical recovery but also emotional support and the patient's social reintegration. Collaboration among the various specialties ensures more effective recovery and the prevention of complications. The lack of resources and communication barriers between professionals remain significant challenges. The role of a well-coordinated team, providing holistic care to burn patients and addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs, is essential for ensuring a complete and effective recovery.
