Abstract

Human viral infections represent a significant public health challenge in Brazil, affecting various age groups and populations. This article addresses the current panorama of these infections in the country, highlighting the main viral diseases, their epidemiological trends, and the control strategies implemented. Recent epidemiological data, adopted public policies, and advances in prevention and treatment are analyzed. The methodology includes the analysis of epidemiological bulletins from the Ministry of Health and relevant scientific studies. The results indicate a reduction in mortality rates from viral hepatitis, although challenges persist in the control of HIV and syphilis. The discussion emphasizes the importance of integrating surveillance, prevention, and treatment actions, as well as the need for public policies that consider the social determinants of health. It concludes that, despite the advances, it is essential to strengthen control strategies and promote equity in access to health services to effectively address viral infections in Brazil.
