Impact of post-infarction cardiovascular rehabilitation on reducing new cardiac events

Abstract

Cardiovascular rehabilitation (CVR) has been widely recommended as an effective strategy to reduce the recurrence of cardiovascular events after myocardial infarction. This study aims to analyze the benefits of cardiovascular rehabilitation in reducing morbidity and mortality and improving the quality of life of post-infarction patients. For this purpose, a literature review was carried out covering publications from the last five years, considering clinical studies and guidelines on the subject. The findings indicate that adherence to CVR programs significantly reduces the incidence of reinfarction, improves cardiovascular function and promotes lifestyle changes that contribute to a better prognosis for patients. It is concluded that the implementation of cardiovascular rehabilitation programs should be encouraged as an essential part of post-infarction management, given its positive impacts on patient health and on reducing hospital costs
