The use of testosterone and anabolic steroids, particularly among healthy individuals, has become a common practice to enhance physical performance, but it can lead to significant cardiovascular risks. This study investigates the impacts of excessive use of these substances in individuals without hypogonadism, highlighting effects such as changes in blood lipids, hypertension, and endothelial dysfunction, which increase the risk of heart disease. While testosterone replacement therapy is indicated for treating hypogonadism, its indiscriminate use can lead to serious complications, such as cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure. The research emphasizes the importance of careful prescribing, accurate diagnosis, and continuous monitoring, as well as the need for awareness campaigns about the risks of steroid abuse, especially among youth and athletes. The combination of responsible clinical treatment and prevention strategies is crucial to ensuring cardiovascular health and preventing long-term damage.
