Hypertension remains one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, and its adequate control is essential to prevent complications. This study reviews the main changes in hypertension treatment guidelines, with an emphasis on the new recommendations published in 2024 by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The analysis highlights updates related to blood pressure targets, the adoption of combination therapies, and the use of emerging technologies, such as SGLT2 inhibitors and digital monitoring devices. These strategies aim to improve hypertension control, especially in high-risk patients. Although challenges related to treatment adherence and implementation in low-income countries persist, recent advances offer new possibilities for more effective and individualized management of hypertension. Personalizing treatment, taking into account the risk profile and available resources, is essential to optimize outcomes and reduce cardiovascular mortality.
