The most prevalent mental illnesses at CAPS IJ of Joinville

Abstract

Objective: The general objective of this study is the analysis of data regarding the attendance of Child Psychosocial Care Center (CPCC) patients in the city of Joinville in the state of Santa Catarina from October 2, 2017 to November 27, 2020. Method: Electronic medical records were analyzed, whose data were gathered in a schedule made available by the Strategic Management of the Municipal Health Department of Joinville. Data collection was carried out, seeking to list the most prevalent mental illnesses, in addition to analyzing the factors: sex, race, age at consultation and neighborhood. Result: The 5 most prevalent mental illnesses in the CPCC of Joinville-SC in the mentioned period, in descending order, were: “Depressive episodes” (ICD F32), “Unspecified (Affective) mood disorder” (ICD F39), “Exam and investigation of people with no complaints or reported diagnosis” (ICD Z00), “Other anxiety disorders” (ICD F41) and “Bipolar Affective Disorder” (ICD F31). The ICD Z00 did not undergo the specific analysis of the other four factors as it does not qualify as a psychiatric illness. Thus, the sixth most prevalent disease was included in the analysis, in this case: “Mental and behavioral disorders due to the use of multiple drugs and the use of other psychoactive substances” (ICD F19). Conclusion: Most of the data found are in accordance with the guidelines presented by the DSM 5 and ICD 10 regarding the most common mental illnesses in childhood and adolescence in Brazil in general. The analysis of specific characters shows that they are related to different groups of diseases. It is believed that the information presented in this work will add knowledge to the entire health system, serving as a tool for its improvement.
