Supraventricular tachycardia: diagnostic approaches and clinical management strategies

Abstract

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a common arrhythmia that affects various age groups and is often underdiagnosed in pediatrics. This study investigates the factors contributing to effective SVT management, considering its causes, clinical presentations, and treatment options. The primary objective is to enhance the understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in pediatrics, providing support for clinical practice. To achieve these goals, an integrative literature review was conducted, analyzing articles and clinical guidelines on SVT. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of vagal maneuvers, such as the Valsalva maneuver, in reversing acute episodes, along with the importance of early recognition of arrhythmias. The conclusion highlights the need for adequate and individualized management strategies, emphasizing the relevance of continuous education for healthcare professionals. This study contributes to the improvement of SVT diagnosis and treatment in pediatric patients, potentially assisting in the development of more effective clinical protocols.
